There’s just simply no running from it, dry skin is becoming a bit of a bother. Luckily, I don’t really need much in order to keep my skin moisturised but when it comes to the Winter I feel like I shed more skin than a lizard (bit over dramatic here but you get my point). Dry patchy skin, dry coarse hair and flaky lips are the main focuses we have to deal with but when it comes to adding a few extras in your routine things start to get complicated. If you’re like me then you don’t really have the time to smoother on the moisturiser and let it dry or spend an extra ten minutes in the shower scrubbing away. Here are my little tips and tricks into getting Summer skin even in Winter without making too much effort…
Dry Skin – Body Scrub
To be honest, when it comes to body scrubs I can be lazy. Lazy as in its been a few months and I haven’t even looked in the direction in which the bottle is sat. The Garnier Oil-Infused Nourishing Scrub helps you get your dry and dull looking skin into those silky legs you once remembered. It exfoliates, nourishes and illuminates the skin using four different oils, please tell me what is not to love. It leaves your skin so smooth you can even skip the moisturising stage. And you can even use it just once per week.
Dry Coarse Hair – Hair Oils
For me, my hair is simply a mess. It’s fine but I have a lot of it and once a brush actually meets and greets it every few days it’s like I’ve been electrocuted. Static hair is just a bore but teamed with dry, coarse and brittle hair, well I may as well just shave it all off and wear hats for the rest of my life. HELP!
Well, let me tell you about the life saver that comes in a reasonable sized bottle and that now has a rightful place within the Winter haircare. TRESemme Oil Elixir is doing wonders to my hair I feel like it’s let me start all over. So, this beauty may have been around for a while but it’s definitely a product that has been lost and forgotten. Just simply use a few pumps and simply distribute through the hair starting in mid section once or twice a week.
Dry Lips – Moisturise. Exfoliate. Moisturise
There’s only so much you can do with keeping your lips moisturised but because my lips are always dry and flaky I have to bring another product into the equation. The key to keeping your lips soft is simple, moisturise, exfoliate and then moisturise some more. For an everyday lip balm I love using Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm with vitamin E and peppermint. It smells amazing and it does the job.
But it doesn’t stop there. Exfoliating your pout gets rid of the flaky bits and leaves you with a shimmering smile. My go to product has to be the lip exfoliatant from The Body Shop. It’s simple and doesn’t leave any gooey mess. Simply use whenever it’s needed. Now for the extra moisture. Before bed I like to apply a few layers of vaseline and let it do its magic throughout the night.
