The Nail Polish Take Over

Ladies it’s time to dig out your favourite shades and get painting those nails. It may not be summer yet but there are plenty of colours to warm up the cold days of winter. And with valentines day looming there are a lot of nail polishes to choose from. Recent research from Retail analysit, Mintel shows that we already spend an average of £450 a year on making our nails look the part.

Whether you want nails like Beyoncé, alexa Chung or Kelly Osbourne, there is always a shade out there that we can afford. Nails are the new lips so what are you waiting for? Get that colour you’ve been longing to wear and well, wear it! Here are my favourite five shades…

Going from right to left we firstly have Eyeslipsface in Bubble Gum Pink. It’s cheeky and very, very pink. If this won’t get you in the loving mood then I don’t know what will. But if your not a ‘girly’ girl then why not tone it down a bit with Barry M’s Glitter Polish in Pink Sliver. It’s consistency can seem slightly thick but it does give you the ‘I’ve definitely made an effort’ look. Now if you want something that will stand out and be perfect for the whole red themed valentines day then the polish you need is the nail lacquer from Crabtree & Evelyn in Apple. An amazing equivalent to red lipstick, this polish will help you get that confidence booster you need. Now if you’re thinking of going a bit darker then Accessorize’s Nail Varnish in Electric Purple is for you. The ‘not so black’ polish gives you the right amount of shimmer and sophistication. Saving the best till last – Teeez Head Over Heels Lacquer in Smoking Gun is to die for. What’s not to love, it’s a perfect blend of gold tones, glitter specks and the fact it leaves you head over heels for it. Nice one.
