Body Moisturisers: Lotion, Spray-On And Oils

It takes effort and knowledge figuring out what your skin’s agenda is for the day so it’s tiring knowing that you have to do the exact same for your skin on your body. It’s also tiring trying to apply moisturiser or body oils over every inch of skin making sure it’s hydrated and nourished just like your face and neck but it isn’t a step we shall ignore. Depending on how much time I’ve got, how hot I’ve had the shower and even how long I’ve been in the shower, I have collected some body products that work wonders in every situation.

When it comes to showering and bathing there is one thing I have to have and that’s hot water – not too hot I turn into a lobster but hot enough to feel all cosy. I know it’s bad for your skin but I just cannot stand lukewarm water so every time I jump in the shower, or bath, sometimes my skin will go red and patchy, mostly on my thighs and around my knees so to help soothe, hydrate and bring them back to life I love using a light body oil and sometimes I’ll add it straight into the bath to save time – definitely lazy proof. My current oil I picked up is the Algotherm Marine Body Oil (currently priced at around £63 on Amazon but I purchased this at T.K.maxx for around £7, 100ml). It’s vibrant blue liquid easily blends into the skin giving you that all body glow. The non-greasy oil contains algae which is good for dry skin and sweet almond oil that helps to nourish and give it that amazing smell.

For the busy mornings or late night showers – or just simply being lazy like me – then I prefer reaching for my spray body lotion. I recommend Superdrug Vitamin E 360 Spray-On All Over Body Lotion (£2.99, 200ml), which contains Argan oil, Vitamin A, B, E, F and H. It sprays evenly on the skin ready to be left alone or rubbed in leaving your skin smooth and hydrated and even protects the skin from environmental damage (pollution, etc) from the added vitamins. I also prefer using this on a hot day as the last thing you want to slap on your sweaty skin is a thick moisturiser.

Body lotions are the classic way of moisturising your skin and even though it seems like a chore I still use them when I’m pampering and taking my time with applying my products. It sits nicely next to my luxurious facemasks for that special evening when I want some ‘me time.’ For years I’ve been using the Neutrogena Nourishing Body Lotion (£5.39, 400ml), a lightweight moisturiser with added Nordic berry, a Scandinavian superfruit, that nourishes your skin and leaves it looking and feeling smooth. The creamy texture glides on easily and quickly absorbs so no need to stand around in your underwear for 20 minutes waiting for it to dry. Regardless of what day, or what temperature and even what other body product I’m using, I will always grab this at the end to apply to my elbows and knees to give it an extra boost of hydration and protection. Another favourite of mine is the Aveeno Moisturising Cream With Colloidal Oatmeal, which was reviewed in my Pamper Essentials blog, as it’s light, easily absorbed and you don’t need a lot for it to go a long way. At least six months on and I still have half a tube!
