When it comes to packing your beauty essentials for your holiday, you consider taking everything you own and what you do take, you’re worried you’ve forgotten everything. Personally, knowing I’d be on holiday with a mix of heat, sweat and rain, I picked my trusted products that have protected and hydrated my skin from day one and even ones that are brand new and have completely surprised me. In total, I took quite a fair bit, spilling over in two small bags but as I’m nearly on my last day I can confirm that I’ve only actually used five different products – definitely unheard of! Here’s my ‘Travelling to Austria: What 5 skincare products I Used.’
We all know how important sunscreen is and when you’re on a hot and sunny holiday, you need to apply so many times. Honestly, I haven’t applied as much as I should and I’m currently supporting lobster red arms but at every chance you get, apply it! Focus on the face, neck, chest, hands, feet and knees – because, well, they do age quicker! I’m currently loving the Eucerin Sensitive Protect Sun Creme SPF 50+ (£12, 50ml), it’s so hydrating and moisturising and doesn’t leave too much of a heavy feel on the skin.
Oh the wonderful joys of using a simple micellar water to refresh your skin, give it a bit of a clean and soothe any irritations on the skin. The Eucerin DermatoCLEAN 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Fluid (£9, 200ml), acts as a cleanser, eye make-up remover and toner – what more could you ask for? One of the ingredients, Sodium hyaluronate (which is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid – which is a smaller molecule so it helps to penetrate the skin deeper), not only hydrates the skin but it also helps to keep the skin plump.
A cleanser is another must-have whilst on holiday because how else are you going to get rid of SPF, daily grime and dirt, make-up and sweat? I decided to go for the Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash (£19.50, 200ml) that is not only a cleanser but a gentle exfoliator too! Something that’s going to benefit your skin and avoid too much build-up. One of the main ingredients is Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract which is used to relieve inflammatory skin conditions and calm sensitive skin, great for when you’ve caught a little too much sun.
Whilst on holiday I’ve not much used a moisturiser, one because it’s so damn hot to do so and second, I don’t really need one. I’m getting all of my ingredients I need in just a serum! I’ve been going on about this serum for months and with only a few weeks left of the bottle, I can truly say the BeautyPie Super Healthy Skin Daily Vitamin Defense Serum (£11.12 for members, 50ml) will always be part of my skincare routine. It’s combined with Shea butter, to help soothe and moisturise and echinacea extract which helps maintain healthy skin.
I am definitely someone who has a very wide variety of lip balms that live in every bag, few in my car and a whole load on my desk too – just to be on the safe side. Of course, applying lip balm will keep them hydrated and smooth but it’s also great for protecting them against the sun too.
